LA MADONNA DEI GAROFANI - La reconstruction au tratteggio du champ pictural originel de la Madone aux œillets de Raphaël a été possible grâce à la présence de nombreux vestiges de la couche picturale sur les bords ruinés de la peinture. L'examen approfondi de la radiographie (toile d'origine en place sous la toile de rentoilage) a permis de retrouver l'harmonie primitive de la composition. Le champ pictural est similaire à de nombreuses répliques peintes et gravées françaises, comme par exemple la célèbre gravure de Jean Boulanger (1608-1680) ou celle de Jean Couvay (1605-1663), ou italiennes (territoires anciennement sous domination française / Duché milanais).

LA MADONNA DEI GAROFANI - The reconstruction of Raphael's original pictorial field of the Madonna of the Carnations using tratteggio was made possible by the presence of numerous remnants of the paint layer on the ruined edges of the painting. A thorough examination of the X-ray (original canvas in place under the relining canvas) made it possible to restore the original harmony of the composition. The pictorial field is similar to numerous French painted and engraved replicas, such as the famous engraving by Jean Boulanger (1608-1680) or that by Jean Couvay (1605-1663), or Italian replicas (territories formerly under French rule/Duchy of Milan).
