Image reconstruction (restoration & tratteggio)

LA MADONNA DEI GAROFANI - La reconstruction de l'image de la Madone aux œillets  (projet définitif de Raphaël) a été possible grâce à la présence de nombreux vestiges de la couche picturale sur les bords ruinés de la toile d'origine. L'examen approfondi de la radiographie de la toile d'origine (en place sous la toile de rentoilage) a permis de retrouver l'harmonie primitive de la composition. Le champ pictural est similaire à de nombreuses répliques peintes et gravées françaises, comme par exemple la célèbre gravure de Jean Boulanger (1608-1680) ou celle de Jean Couvay (1605-1663).

LA MADONNA DEI GAROFANI - The reconstruction of the image of the Madonna of the Carnations (Raphael's final project) was made possible by the presence of numerous traces of the paint layer on the ruined edges of the original canvas. A thorough examination of the X-ray of the original canvas (in place under the relining canvas) made it possible to restore the original harmony of the composition. The pictorial field is similar to numerous French painted and engraved replicas, such as the famous engraving by Jean Boulanger (1608-1680) or by Jean Couvay (1605-1663).
